Masskara Festival of the "City of Smiles” is one of the most awaited festivals in the country. Beats, smiles and vibrant colors are everywhere in the streets of Bacolod City every third week of October.
The festival was born during Bacolod City’s dark and tragic time. The time when people of Negros find no reasons to smile because of tragic sinking of passenger vessel Don Juan carrying many Negrenses and crisis brought by crashing of sugar prices.
It was organized by the artists, civic groups, and local government of the city to bring back the smile in every faces of people of Bacolod - known as the city of smiles. A declaration that no matter how dark and tragic happened, they are able to survive and have more reasons to smile.
The word "MassKara" comes from the two words "mass" which means "many or a multitude of the people" and the Spanish "kara" meaning "face". The mask worn by the participants during the parade are always smiling. MassKara thus means a multitude/mass of smiling faces.
Expect this year’s Masskara Festival to be more colorful, Fun, and full of SMILES!

09:00 am to 03:00 pm - MassKara Street Dancing Barangay Category in Paglaum Sports Complex
Street dancing will start at Araneta Avenue and will end at Paglaum Sports Complex.
