Established in 1920's, Lagbas Ancestral Home in Poblacion, Sugbongcogon was built by Don Benedicto Lagbas. This heritage home or I should say “one of the most beautiful ancestral houses" (I've ever seen) still stood today and serves as the residence of the other members of the Lagbas clan.
One Saturday morning of May 2014, my itchy soles brought me to Municipality of Sugbongcogon. This humble town of Misamis Oriental is 71 km away from my Cagayan de Oro City. After visiting Mantianak Nature Park, I decided to ride in a tricycle to look for a restaurant/carenderia in the town proper. We’re on our way to Poblacion proper when I noticed an old gate common to Ancestral Houses in Cebu. I asked the tricycle driver to stop for a while assuming that there is more interesting behind that old gate. Yep, I saw this beautiful and well-preserved old house!
A passerby gave me some information about the ancestral house and how old it is. “Panahon pa ng hapon yan…” according to her. I asked her if it's fine to take photos of this grand old house. She nodded with smile.

Not yet satisfied with my 5-10 photos, I asked Manong Tricycle driver if he’s willing to wait as I'll try to enter in the compound or inside the house. Unlucky I am! I didn't find anyone I can ask for permission… No one in the compound/house at that time.
